These days, you have a plethora of options when you’re interested in noise-cancelling headphones. Other than Sony and Bose products, the Jabra Elite 85h are one of the better options in this market, and they’re currently $100 cheaper than usual at multiple resellers, going for $200 instead of $300.
In his review, our own David Ruddock felt the Jabra Elite 85h’s audio quality and noise-cancellation capabilities were even better than similar offers from Bose while providing a much longer battery life of 36 hours. The biggest issue with RCS prior to Google’s benevolent rollout was the sheer volume of implementations. Every carrier had its own spin on the standard with proprietary seasoning on top, and few of the systems talked to one another. Beyond the practical limitations imposed on customers’ cross-carrier communications, it turns out these customized versions are also exposing users to security vulnerabilities, based on details dug up by a cybersecurity firm in a recent report by Motherboard. LG’s tendency to update its devices incredibly slowly has become something of a running gag in the tech community, especially after the company unveiled a ‘Software Upgrade Center’ last year that didn’t change matters much. It seems like the company’s current flagship is receiving Android 10 in a timely manner, but don’t get excited yet.
There is currently one confirmed report of Android 10 rolling out to an LG G8 ThinQ in South Korea, courtesy of Reddit user Jerry101923. Read MoreLG reportedly begins Android 10 rollout for G8 ThinQ was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
The Galaxy Buds are a pretty solid deal even at their normal asking price of $129.99, but in this early Cyber Monday deal on Amazon you can pick them up for just under $100! That’s about 23% off and one of the best deals we’ve seen on a pair of truly wireless earbuds from a major brand.
The Galaxy Buds offer a compact case that charges wirelessly or via USB-C, the earbuds themselves have about 6 hours of battery life which should be enough for most listening sessions and the case will provide a little more than one additional full charge to the earbuds for approximately another 7 hours of listening.
The lower profile look of the Galaxy Buds is preferable to some of the larger options on the market and while they aren’t going to hold up to audiophile standards, the sound quality is solid enough if a bit light on the bass.
The Galaxy Buds feature an Ambient Aware mode that lets in additional sound if you are using them while walking on the street, biking or jogging and need to remain aware of your surroundings. They do notably lack active noise-canceling, so if you are looking for something to totally block out your surroundings these probably won’t cut it.
If you aren’t a Samsung fan you can find the fairly similar Jabra 65t for the same $99.99 price point at Best Buy currently. They are a bit bulkier (case and earbuds) than the Galaxy Buds, but offer slightly more battery life in the case.
